About

I have, for as long as i can remember, been interested in our great British wildlife. This started off years ago, when as a small boy, i would go off with my dad to his friends. Here on this smallholding I would explore the paddocks and hedgerows, often for hours on end. The sight of a female Blackbird siting on her eggs was enough to keep me jabbering on for weeks after.

Birds became my passion at this early age and have continued to be almost continually (allowing for the compulsory venture into birds of the non-feathered kind & beer!).

I now work as a engineer on shifts, so have plenty of time to get out and about. I am also a member of the Somerset Ornithological Society. http://www.somersetbirds.net

Wildlife photography came about with the advent of digiscoping several years ago. At this I became quite proficient and it was only due to frustration caused by slow shutter speeds and bad light, that i decided to take the plunge and purchase a digital SLR. The quality of the shots and the speed i encountered were then to me unbelievable! Flight shots were now a possibility!

From then on i have strived to learn and improve my technique. This has of course gone hand in hand with the inevitable upgrading of lenses, bodies and general equipment. (much to the despair of Lindsay!)

Lindsay on the other hand is a well travelled girl having sailed around the globe working on cruise ships. Penguins are her passion and can be found adorning her shelves in various guises (not real ones of course!).

She also enjoys British wildlife and we often venture out together when work commitments allow. She likes landscapes and has an eye for a good scene, something i cannot compete with.

Macro photography is a new diversion for both of us and its relatively easy found subjects, dragonflies and butterflies, spiders and other creepy crawlies, are welcome when the deer are hiding or the birds are on holiday.
All in all we will have a go at anything! (nature related) and sometimes just being there is reward enough.
